The subject contains image sensor control, high speed transfer of huge amount of data, high speed data recording, data processing and development of algorithms. A modular designed image data recorder will be developed which receives and stores image data through a high speed interface. A high data throughput from different cameras and camera heads are desired. A RAID similar struc-ture should enable fast receiving and storing of data. An operation mode with a PDA instead of a master PC will be considered. A FPGA structure has to be designed for a recorder and control unit. An appropriate data structure has to enable high speed data storage. An image data pre-processing is needed to improve the data quality. The algorithm will be implemented into a FPGA. Lossless data compression within the cam-era and/or the recorder has to be taken into account. The development of a modern high-speed data interface requires basic research. It is thought to store data in a parallelized flash disc structure.
