Integrated quantum photonic circuits

The goal of this cooperation is to realize a scalable platform for integrated quantum photonic circuits. Such a platform is of large interest for photonic quantum technologies, e.g. for quantum communication and quantum computing. We aim to realize a hybrid platform that combines the best properties of two worlds – photonic circuits made out of silicon carbide, whose color centers serve as emitters of quantum light, and integrated superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors. While the initial project explored and confirmed the compatibility of the different materials, this project sequel will focus on the realization of a proof-of-concept demonstrator. Specifically, the demonstrator will allow for the generation, routing, and detection of quantum light on-chip, thus highlighting the potential of the platform.
